The Zamfara State Agro Climate Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL), in partnership with the Health Standard Concern Organisation (HESCO), has trained farmers and community members in Climate Smart Agriculture practices.
The training took place on Thursday at the Gusau Local Government Secretariat.
According to HESCO’s Social Mobilization Officer, Mansur Iliyasu, participants were drawn from eleven wards within the local government, including women farmers and members of farmers’ associations. He encouraged them to spread the knowledge gained to others in their communities for broader impact.
Speaking on behalf of ACReSAL, Communication Officer Lawal Jibril emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture and the project’s commitment to climate resilience in the region.
In his lecture, Dr. Ahmed Hashim of HESCO discussed the dangers of bush burning and highlighted sustainable methods to enhance food production and protect the environment.
The Gusau Local Government Chairman, represented by the Director of Agriculture, appreciated the organizers for prioritizing the needs of local farmers and communities in the training initiative.
