Harbinger is a Nigerian journalism platform dedicated to agriculture, food security, AgriTech innovation, and climate-related reporting — with a special focus on smallholder farmers and rural communities across Southwest Nigeria.
Agriculture remains one of the most important sectors in Nigeria’s economy, yet the people at the heart of it — farmers — are often the least heard. They battle unpredictable weather, limited access to modern tools, weak policy support, and little visibility in national conversations. Harbinger exists to close that gap: to inform farmers, hold power accountable, and connect innovation to the people who need it most.

Why the Southwest, and why Yoruba
Harbinger places special emphasis on Southwest Nigeria, home to a significant share of the country’s smallholder farmers. To make our reporting genuinely useful — not just informative — we produce select stories in both English and Yoruba, and work with experts to explain agricultural tools and innovations in simple, practical language that farmers can act on immediately.
