A 24-year-old final-year student of the University of Port Harcourt, Victor Ochonogor, has been apprehended by the Edo State Police Command for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Success Regha, through stabbing.

The incident occurred at 10, Osahon Street, Ogheghe Quarters, off Sapele Road, Benin City. Ochonogor, who is studying Applied and Industrial Chemistry, and his girlfriend locked themselves inside the house during the violent altercation and both ended up stabbing each other.

Muhammed Dankwara, the Commissioner of Police for the state, revealed this at a press conference in Benin on Tuesday, disclosing that the police were alerted to the situation by the suspect’s landlord, Emmanuel Momoh.

Using a knife, Ochonogor fatally wounded his girlfriend in the neck and chest.

In his statement to the press, Ochonogor explained that he had been in a relationship with the deceased for three years. 

During her visit from Asaba to Benin, an argument arose where she accused him of being a kidnapper, which greatly angered him.

Furthermore, another individual named Etinosa Omoregie, affiliated with the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, was paraded before journalists due to his alleged involvement in a murder case. 

Omoregie reportedly shot a person named Eric, who later succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital.

Additional arrests made by the police include Efosa Osayande, 31, accused of releasing explicit photos of his former girlfriend to the public, and Friday Igberase, who is being detained on charges of rape.
