Voters at Ward 1, Unit 24, located at Islahudeen Secondary School in Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State, have raised concerns over the slow operation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) during Saturday’s governorship election.
Several voters at the polling unit complained that the accreditation process was progressing slowly, attributing the delay to the use of a single BVAS machine to attend to all eligible voters at the centre.
Some of the voters expressed fears that the situation could discourage participation if the pace of accreditation did not improve.
Concerns were also raised over the absence of support facilities for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), with voters noting that the current arrangement did not adequately cater to individuals with special needs.
An election observer, Aminat Oderinwale of the Nigeria Women Trust Fund, also expressed concern over the situation, noting that the lack of assistive tools made the voting process difficult for persons living with disabilities.
As of the time of filing this report, voting was ongoing at the polling unit, while voters continued to call for improved logistics to ensure a smoother and more inclusive electoral process.
