The Osun State Chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, has directed party leaders across the state to immediately mobilise to various collation centres to safeguard what he described as the mandate freely given to Governor Ademola Adeleke in Saturday’s governorship election.
Akande, in a statement issued on Saturday, said the directive became necessary to ensure that the votes recorded for the governor at polling units across the state were adequately protected during the collation process.
According to him, the party was convinced that Adeleke had already secured an overwhelming victory, making it necessary for party leaders to remain actively involved in the final stages of the electoral process.
“It is time to show leadership and protect the mandate of our people. It is our collective duty to protect the votes freely cast by the good people of Osun State,” Akande said.
He urged party leaders to move to their designated collation centres and stand with voters to ensure that every valid vote was counted and accurately reflected in the final results.
“We must remain vigilant, peaceful and committed throughout the collation process. The victory we have secured is not merely a victory for Accord or for Governor Adeleke; it is a victory for the good people of Osun State who have spoken clearly through their votes,” he added.
The party chairman, however, appealed to supporters to remain calm and law-abiding while carrying out their responsibilities, stressing the need to preserve the integrity of the electoral process.
Akande expressed confidence that the will of Osun voters would prevail, adding that the mandate renewed for Governor Adeleke would be upheld through the completion of the collation process.
The statement comes as the collation of results from polling units across the state continues following the conclusion of voting in the governorship election.
