The Katsina State Government has paid over N274 million in compensation to landowners in Gidan Na-Banje, Kafur Local Government Area, for the establishment of a Federal College of Agriculture.
Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Dr Faisal Umar Kaita, said 241 landowners received N274,353,217.39 for the 100 hectares acquired for the project.
He explained that the payment aligns with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s policy of compensating affected persons before any government project begins.
Dr Kaita also acknowledged Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, Political Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, for facilitating the siting of the college through his efforts with the Federal Government.
“When completed, this college will serve as a centre of excellence in agricultural innovation, training, and research, supporting Governor Radda’s agricultural transformation agenda,” he said.
