The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its support for Governor Ademola Adeleke as the state coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign, dismissing reports that the party has established a parallel presidential campaign committee.
The party said it remained committed to working with Adeleke to secure at least 1.5 million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, stressing that the committee headed by its governorship candidate in the 2026 election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, was established solely to coordinate campaigns for APC candidates contesting parliamentary and legislative seats.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, in response to reports suggesting that the party had constituted a separate presidential campaign structure in the state.
Olabisi said there was no reason for the APC to establish a parallel presidential campaign committee when Tinubu had already appointed Adeleke to coordinate his re-election campaign in Osun.
He said, “We have said it times without number that we are grateful to Governor Adeleke for his demonstrated resolve to lead the campaign for our presidential candidate and that we are ready and willing as a party to work with him.”
The party described last Saturday’s gathering at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, as evidence of its commitment to working with the governor and other political parties towards Tinubu’s electoral victory.
It also appealed to individuals it accused of attempting to create division within the emerging political alliance to desist from actions capable of undermining the coalition.
The APC further clarified that Oyebamiji remained the Director-General of its parliamentary campaign organisation and was also actively supporting efforts to mobilise votes for Tinubu.
Addressing complaints by some members of the party’s state executive committee over their exclusion from a campaign list circulated on social media, Olabisi acknowledged that only four of the 35 state executive members were reportedly included.
He, however, interpreted the complaints as evidence that the affected executives were interested in participating in the Oyebamiji-led parliamentary campaign council.
The party maintained that its parliamentary campaign structure should not be mistaken for a separate presidential campaign committee, reiterating its readiness to work with Adeleke towards achieving the 1.5 million votes target for Tinubu.
