Obasanjo Dispels Death Rumors, Lauds Adeleke’s Leadership in Osun

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has dismissed rumors of his death, calling out those who spread the falsehood on social media.

Obasanjo made the revelation on Tuesday during the commissioning of the Old-Garage-Oke-Fia-Lameco road in Osogbo, Osun State, at the invitation of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“I woke up to hear that I was dead,” Obasanjo said with a touch of humor. “A close friend called and asked me to check social media, and there it was—posts claiming I passed away at midnight. Why anyone would wish me dead is beyond me, but their wish will not come true.”

The former president, visibly unshaken by the rumors, stated that ill wishes against him would backfire on the perpetrators.

Shifting the focus to the event, Obasanjo praised Governor Adeleke’s accomplishments, particularly the completed road project, which he described as a testament to “extraordinary governance.” He expressed confidence in Adeleke’s leadership, predicting a successful second term for the governor.

The commissioning ceremony served as both a rebuttal to baseless rumors and a celebration of infrastructural progress in Osun State.
