Elon Musk, the owner and CEO of Twitter, has announced plans to change the logo of the social media platform from the famous blue bird to an X.Â
The proposed logo change is a significant alteration since Musk acquired Twitter. In his recent tweets, Musk mentioned his intention to implement the change quickly.
Musk tweeted, “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and gradually all birds.”
As a prominent and well-established media platform, this logo change has sparked reactions from Twitter users. Some are opposing the idea, expressing concerns about its potential impact on the platform and Musk himself.
A Twitter user, Lulu finds the development odd and speculates that Musk might have a secret objective.Â
She tweeted, “Can he claim bankruptcy for Twitter, then rebrand it to X to avoid debtors? Seems odd to drop a well-known brand/logo unless there is some hidden benefit for Elon Musk.”
Also, a username, Mick Ster emphasized that this move will not be beneficial as advertisers are leaving, leading to significant losses.Â
He stated, “Just when you think he couldn’t make anything worse, he just keeps outdoing himself. The advertisers are dropping like flies, and he’s already lost 20 billion.”
Similarly, Kevin Baruy criticized the new logo, fearing it might worsen the issue of inappropriate content on the platform.Â
He commented,”I don’t think naming the site X is a good idea considering that Twitter has had a serious porn problem ever since Elon took control. Twitter is now just going to be a porn site that advertisers will shun.”
In his reaction, a user with the name “Stefan The adequate” expressed disapproval, saying, “Sure, let’s eliminate the most identifiable icon associated with the site and replace it with the same symbol that you have to click to close an annoying application.”
Frank also opposed the idea, stating that the bird has been a well-known and recognizable logo, and changing it is inappropriate.Â
He said, “It doesn’t make sense. Twitter is pretty much a household name. Changing the name is nonsensical.”
Breast sarcastically remarked, “Musk is using masterclasses on how to dismantle a brand piece by piece.”
In the same vein, a user with the name “Madam 227” explained that the letter X is a harsh and challenging letter, making it unsuitable for a brand logo.Â
She stated, “He should have done some research; in some languages, X is a hard and horrible letter. Everyone knows Twitter and tweets and all, but X people only know it for X-rated movies.”
Some users humorously demonstrated the use of the letter X in Twitter activities and discussions:
Jason Mullet jokes, “So what will it be called when you make a post! He X’d it last night.”
Bloomberg Feed tweeted, “Gonna post on the X app and watch the videos from the Xers. Branding is through the roof here.”
Leslie007 playfully wondered, “This is currently a tweet. Will it be an X? A retweet is a reX?”
Nick Berry concluded the discussion, suggesting, “It would be better if they could bid adieu to Musk before the Titanic sinks completely.”
The proposed logo change has stirred mixed reactions among Twitter users, with some expressing nostalgia for the well-known bird logo and others speculating on the potential implications for the platform and Musk.
