Redeemer’s University has secured full accreditation for several major academic programmes, including Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Cyber Security and Statistics and Data Science, following the latest accreditation exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission.
The development positions the Osun-based private university among institutions that scaled the commission’s October/November 2025 nationwide accreditation exercise, conducted to assess compliance with minimum academic standards across Nigerian universities.
The results were conveyed in an official communication addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, and signed by the Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chudunsu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the commission, Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.
The university recorded full accreditation in key professional and technology-related programmes at a time concerns continue to trail the quality of tertiary education and employability of graduates in Nigeria.
Among programmes that secured full accreditation were Actuarial Science, Marketing and Public Administration under the Faculty of Management Sciences.
In the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science and Physiotherapy also earned full accreditation status, while Public Health received interim accreditation.
The university equally secured full accreditation for English and Philosophy in the Faculty of Humanities.
Its Faculty of Computing and Digital Technology also recorded major success, with Cyber Security and Information Technology programmes earning full accreditation, further boosting the institution’s profile in technology and digital innovation education.
Other programmes granted full accreditation include Environmental Management and Toxicology, Industrial Mathematics and Computer Science, Statistics and Data Science, Building Technology, Urban and Regional Planning, Psychology and Social Work.
Reacting to the development, Akindele described the outcome as a reflection of the institution’s investment in academic infrastructure, manpower development and quality teaching.
“This outcome highlights Redeemer’s University’s consistent investment in academic infrastructure, faculty development, and programme relevance, positioning it as a competitive player within Nigeria’s higher education landscape,” he said.
The vice-chancellor further described the accreditation results as a reaffirmation of the university’s commitment to delivering globally competitive education.
According to the NUC, programmes granted full accreditation status have satisfied requirements relating to curriculum, staffing, learning facilities and overall academic delivery.
The commission added that full accreditation remains valid for five years before another review exercise is conducted.
