The Governor of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Europe Chapter, Collins Idosah, has initiated a major reorganisation of the chapter following the dissolution of its executive council over the expiration of members’ tenure.
Announcing the decision, Idosah said the move was in line with the constitutional and administrative provisions governing the Europe Chapter, noting that the affected officials were appointed officers whose tenure had come to an end.
According to him, the restructuring is aimed at strengthening the chapter’s operations and ensuring compliance with established governance procedures.
“The tenure of the Europe Executive has expired. Therefore, I have dissolved the executive with immediate effect in accordance with my responsibilities as Governor of the chapter,” he stated.
The Europe Governor maintained that the chapter remains legally registered and fully recognised across the countries where it operates, dismissing concerns about its status.
He also warned against attempts to create parallel structures or challenge the authority of the chapter outside laid-down procedures, stressing that such actions could attract legal consequences.
Idosah clarified that the decision affects only the Europe Executive Council and does not extend to other NYCN diaspora structures, which he said remain functional and unaffected.
The development comes as his leadership received renewed backing from Barrister Suleiman Abubakar, who chaired the electoral committee that conducted the 2025 NYCN Congress in Bayelsa State.
In a notice issued recently, Abubakar affirmed that Idosah was duly elected Governor of the Europe Chapter during the congress and stated that no individual or group has the authority to remove him from office or official platforms without following due process.
The latest move is expected to pave the way for the appointment or emergence of a new leadership team as stakeholders monitor the next phase of the chapter’s reorganisation and administration.
