“I’m Not Aligning With Any Party, They Should Align With Me” — Osun PRP Candidate

By Boluwatife Adedokun

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election, Dr. Oyelami Saliu, has ruled out aligning with any political party ahead of the poll, declaring that parties interested in his vision should instead align with him.

Saliu made the declaration on Friday during the 10th Media Parley organised by the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) in Osogbo.

Addressing questions on possible political alliances ahead of the election, the medical practitioner said he remained focused on his agenda for Osun State and would not abandon his political platform for any coalition.

“I am not aligning with anybody or any political party. Rather, they should align with me,” he said.

The PRP candidate also pledged not to discontinue projects that would benefit residents of the state if elected governor.

According to him, governance should be driven by the public interest rather than political considerations, stressing that any ongoing project capable of improving the welfare of the people would be sustained irrespective of the administration that initiated it.

“We are not going to stop any project that will benefit the people of Osun State,” he said.

Speaking on the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Saliu acknowledged that the governor had made efforts in office but maintained that the state required a new direction.

“The incumbent governor has done his best, but his best is not enough for the people of Osun State. If he was doing well enough, I would not be contesting against him,” he said.

He assured residents that his administration would perform better across key sectors if elected.

On the controversy surrounding airport projects in the state, Saliu said his government would conduct a thorough assessment of the ongoing projects before deciding the most viable option for completion.

The PRP candidate subsequently called on voters to support his candidacy in the forthcoming governorship election, expressing confidence that his vision offers a credible alternative for the state.
