The Osun State Government has dismissed claims that legitimate teachers were sacked following the assumption of office by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Speaking on a current affairs programme, Lero Temi with Mukhtar Ajelogbon, aired on OsunReporters TV on Monday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs, Alhaji Muniru Adebayo Raji, said no qualified or duly recruited teachers have been relieved of their appointments under the Adeleke administration.
“For the avoidance of doubt, no legitimate and qualified teachers in the state’s school system have been relieved of their appointment since Senator Ademola Adeleke resumed office as Governor of Osun State,” Raji said.
He alleged that the controversy surrounding teachers’ disengagement stemmed from what he described as irregular recruitment exercises carried out by the immediate past administration after it lost the governorship election.
“I can categorically tell Osun people that the past administration led by Gboyega Oyetola, after losing its second-term election, conducted irregularities, discrepancies and a kangaroo recruitment process for applicants who applied as teachers,” he added.
Raji further stated that the current administration’s teacher recruitment exercise was already yielding positive results, noting that the government was taking steps to employ teachers through a legitimate and transparent process.
According to him, the Adeleke administration is committed to strengthening the education sector, which he described as the state’s most important legacy.
On party politics, the governor’s aide said there was no faction within the Accord Party in Osun State, stressing that all cabinet members and political appointees of the governor were members of the party.
“I belong to Accord, and all the executives and appointees—from commissioners and special advisers to special assistants—are Accord members. There is no faction in our party,” he said.
Ahead of the next governorship election, Raji claimed that opposition parties lacked a convincing campaign message, insisting that residents of the state remained firmly in support of Adeleke.
“Osun people are with Adeleke. Come August 8, the governor will be victorious and win massively,” he said.
