President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, removing the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The development was conveyed in a memo issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and made public through a statement by his media aide, Yomi Odunuga.
According to the statement, Edun has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who has been elevated to serve as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
In the housing ministry, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been nominated as minister-designate, pending confirmation. The outgoing minister, Dangiwa, has been instructed to hand over to the Minister of State in the interim.
The memo directed that all handover processes be concluded on or before April 23, 2026.
Explaining the decision, Akume said the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening coordination within government and enhancing policy delivery, particularly in line with the administration’s economic agenda.
“The changes are to improve cohesion and ensure more impactful service delivery to Nigerians,” the statement said.
Tinubu also appreciated the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future endeavours, while noting that efforts to reposition the cabinet would continue.
