The newly inaugurated caretaker committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Osun State has called on political parties to close ranks and work together to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible governorship election.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration on Monday, the caretaker committee chairman, Odesola Oluseye, said the approaching election presents a critical moment for political actors to prioritise democracy over partisan interests.
He urged members of the council to embrace unity, fairness and integrity throughout the electoral process, stressing that collaboration among political parties remains vital to sustaining public confidence in elections.
“It is time for us to stand strong as a united front, advocating for fairness, integrity and respect within our political processes,” Oluseye said.
He appealed to political parties to set aside their differences and focus on their shared responsibility of strengthening democracy in the state.
“As we move into this critical electoral phase, I urge all members within our state to unite. We must put aside our differences and focus on our shared purpose to build a better tomorrow for our democracy,” he added.
Oluseye maintained that every eligible voter should be given the opportunity to participate freely in the electoral process, noting that all stakeholders must work collectively to ensure transparency and credibility.
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that every voice is heard, every vote counted and every citizen empowered. Let us work hand in hand to create an electoral environment that reflects the true will of the people, fostering trust and transparency at every turn,” he stated.
The IPAC chairman further called for stronger cooperation among political parties, saying political diversity should be viewed as a strength rather than a source of division.
“Together we can cultivate a culture of cooperation and collaboration, where the diverse voices of our communities are not just represented but celebrated,” he said.
Oluseye also commended the national leadership of IPAC for resolving the prolonged leadership vacuum in the Osun State chapter, describing the intervention as timely ahead of the governorship election.
According to him, the action has restored direction to the council and positioned it to effectively carry out its constitutional responsibilities.
He assured members that the caretaker committee would administer the affairs of the council in line with the provisions of the IPAC constitution, expressing confidence that unity and adherence to democratic principles would strengthen the credibility of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
