Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has vowed to end what he described as 24 years of federal neglect in the constituency, promising to bring government projects and economic opportunities closer to residents.
Olajengbesi made the pledge during a visit to Ipetu-Ile, where he was received by supporters, women, youths and community leaders across the ward.
Addressing residents, the candidate said his visit was aimed at listening to their concerns, understanding their challenges and presenting his vision for improved representation at the federal level.
‘Our communities have been left to survive on their own’
Olajengbesi lamented what he described as the absence of significant federal projects in the constituency over the past two decades, insisting that communities in Ijesa North had not received the attention they deserved.
“You cannot mention any serious federal project in Ward 2 in the last 20 years. That is the reality. Our people in Ipetu-Ile, Ase-Ijesa, Ada-Owode, Itiya, Ilu Ojatuntun, Olomu and Erinja have been left to survive on their own. We are coming to change that,” he said.
He maintained that his proposed representation would prioritise bringing federal opportunities to communities that, according to him, had been left behind.
Farmers, traders, youths in focus
The Accord Party candidate also promised to improve access to federal government programmes, including grants, loans, employment opportunities and agricultural support.
“We will bring the federal government closer to our farmers, our traders, our students and our artisans. From access to grants and loans, to federal jobs, to agricultural support, we will open the doors that have been shut against our people,” Olajengbesi said.
He expressed confidence that his proposed approach to representation would help residents benefit more directly from federal initiatives and create opportunities for economic advancement across the constituency.
His engagement with residents in Ipetu-Ile forms part of his outreach to communities in Obokun/Oriade, as he seeks to present his agenda and secure support for his candidacy.
