Human rights lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has called on the lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Hon. Oluwole Oke, to release government-provided tractors and transformers allegedly in his custody for the benefit of residents.

Olajengbesi made the appeal on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in a post on his personal Facebook page, urging the lawmaker to make the intervention items available to constituents to ease hardship in rural communities.
The Abuja-based lawyer recalled his recent donation of a 300kVA transformer to Ilo-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area, following complaints by residents over 14 years of unstable electricity supply.
He said the donation was informed by concerns raised by community members during the governorship campaign of Governor Ademola Adeleke, when residents reportedly complained about prolonged power outages and unfulfilled promises by political leaders.
According to Olajengbesi, the Federal Government had made provisions for intervention projects intended to address some of the challenges facing communities in the constituency.
“I was moved by the genuine concern and need of our people. They lamented years of electricity blackout due to lack of transformers, with promises made to them remaining unfulfilled. The Federal Government made provisions for these projects,” he said.
He explained that the transformer donated to Ilo-Ijesa was secured through his personal efforts and support from friends, adding that he had made a commitment to address the community’s infrastructure challenges.
“Thank God, with the support of friends, I was able to get a 300kVA transformer and donate it to our people in Ilo-Ijesa. I promised that when I have the necessary capacity as their representative, I will ensure that such problems will no longer be a challenge,” he stated.
The lawyer also alleged that some political officeholders divert government interventions meant for rural communities, rather than ensuring that the items reach their intended beneficiaries.
“Often, the Federal Government provides this support through various interventions, but politicians take the items and sell or divert them,” he alleged.
Olajengbesi subsequently called on Oke to account for the intervention materials, specifically urging him to release all government-supported transformers and tractors said to be in his possession.
“I also challenge our current representative to immediately release all Government support transformers and tractors in his possession to the people of Oriade/Obokun to make life easier for our people,” he declared.
