The news of President Bola Tinubu’s directive for state governors to allocate land for ranching in the South-East reverberated across social media platforms.
As the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) vehemently opposed the idea, their spokesman, Emma Powerful, issued a press statement asserting that there was no available land for ranching in the region.
The emergence of this development has ignited a fervent discourse among Nigerians on Facebook, with users from various backgrounds and perspectives weighing in on the matter with reactions.
One of those commenters, Nelson Oriarebu, couldn’t contain his frustration.
His words, laden with exasperation and defiance, resonated across the platform as he exclaimed, “Let everyone who is in the business graze in his own state…no be by force, you can’t take your personal business away from your state to inconvenient another land entirely, it’s not done, since una refuse to address this matter in a right way, whatever it results to everyone will face it ah ah what nonsense.”

Also, a username, JP Nnadozie made his position clear. With unwavering resolve, he said, “Till the next world, ranching will never take place in the old Eastern region.
If you like to give all your money to the governor, ESN will be dealing with Fulani herders in our bushes. IPOB rules now.”
Adding to the discussion, It’s Danny Best emphasized the unwavering commitment of Biafra people, stating, “The Biafra people are resolute despite government opposition. Let’s swiftly divide the country. We citizens endure constant suffering created by our leaders.”
Chinonzo Johnpaul Ndukwe highlighted the indigenous people’s stance, suggesting an alternative solution, “The indigenous people have spoken. Those seeking land for ranching should look to the high hills of Guinea. South-East land is not available for such purposes.”
Oneme M Samuel proposed a practical solution, pointing out the vastness of Kaduna state compared to the South-East. He suggested, “Kaduna state is three times bigger than the entire South-East. Build ranching there or in Zamfara. However, giving land to Fulanis invites death. Leave the South-East alone.”
