The Accord Party candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District, Aare Ganiyu Olaoluwa Asejere, has called on Christian and Muslim clerics across Osun State to intensify advocacy on security consciousness during worship services, saying public vigilance remains crucial to tackling the growing insecurity in the country.
Asejere made the call in a statement signed on Sunday, where he urged churches, the League of Imams and Alfas, and other religious bodies to dedicate parts of their sermons and services to educating worshippers on the need to remain security conscious and vigilant.
He said religious leaders have a vital role to play in complementing government efforts at addressing insecurity through public sensitisation and prayers.
“May I call on the Body of Christ and the League of Imams and Alfas in Osun Central, Osun State and its environs to consider it a point of duty to dedicate a portion of their services to preaching on the importance of being security conscious and vigilant. May we continue to enjoy God’s divine protection,” he said.
Asejere also called for prayers for victims of abduction across the country, expressing hope that they would soon regain their freedom.
“It is also important to remember our brothers and sisters who are currently in captivity. Let us pray that God will deliver them from the hands of their abductors,” he added.
The Accord Party senatorial candidate expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness and mercy, noting that divine grace had sustained the people despite prevailing challenges confronting the country.
“I would like to appreciate and acknowledge God’s kindness and faithfulness that have seen us through the adversities of this world,” he stated.
Addressing residents of Osun Central, Asejere urged worshippers to reflect on God’s enduring faithfulness as they gathered for Sunday worship.
“My esteemed constituents of Osun Central, as we gather at our various worship centres to offer our sincere sacrifices of praise and adoration to the Ancient of Days, let us remember God’s faithfulness, which has sustained us thus far,” he said.
He further sought continued prayers and support for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke, his senatorial ambition and other Accord Party candidates contesting elective positions.
Asejere also wished residents a peaceful Sunday worship and a productive week ahead, praying that the new week would bring abundant blessings and favour to all.
