…says APC leader is blind to state’s achievements in education, health, and infrastructure
The Spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, has strongly criticised the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Bashiru, accusing him of ignoring the strides recorded by the Osun State Government under Adeleke’s leadership.
Rasheed, in a statement released on Saturday, claimed that Bashiru and other members of the opposition in the state are suffering from what he termed “Adelekephobia” — a condition he described as the inability to acknowledge the administration’s achievements due to political bias.
He cited the state’s recent rise to 7th position in national examination rankings out of 36 states as evidence of progress in the education sector. Rasheed noted that Osun was ranked 33rd during the previous APC administration where Bashiru served.
“Some months ago, Osun also ranked first in the South West for primary health access and won a $500,000 prize, yet the opposition continues to turn a blind eye,” he added.
Rasheed further referenced the Debt Management Office’s commendation of Osun State for reducing inherited debt by 40 percent, all without additional borrowing. He contrasted this with what he described as “financial recklessness” under the previous administration.
“It is ironic that the same Adeleke administration that constructed the road leading to Mr. Bashiru’s residence is now being vilified by him. Osogbo, his hometown, has witnessed major infrastructural upgrades, including the Okefia flyover,” the statement read.
He also took a jab at internal APC politics, saying Bashiru had lost relevance within the party’s “Amunbo” caucus. Rasheed maintained that the people of Osun remain supportive of Governor Adeleke’s administration, citing ongoing projects such as a five-star stadium in Osogbo, mechanized agriculture efforts, and reforms in tertiary education.
“We are not praying for any cure for Adelekephobia. Thankfully, Osun people are not infected. They see the good governance, the improved welfare of workers and pensioners, the infrastructural revolution, and the growth in our institutions,” the statement concluded.
