The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a viral video allegedly showing one of its senatorial aspirants, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, criticising the party’s chances in the forthcoming governorship election.
In a statement dated April 18, 2026, and signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC accused members of the Accord Party of circulating a “twisted” version of the video to mislead the public.
The party described the video as a misrepresentation of comments made by Ogunbiyi during a political meeting, insisting that he remains a committed member of the APC.

“The members of the public should discountenance the twisted content of a video recording being circulated on social media,” the statement read, alleging that it was being spread by “frustrated members” of the Accord Party.
The APC maintained that Ogunbiyi, an aspirant for the Osun West Senatorial District, is a “credible, trusted and dependable chieftain” who has consistently demonstrated loyalty to the party.
“We want to state unequivocally that Dr. Ogunbiyi would never be a party to the advancement of any misfortune for our party,” the statement said.
The party further described the Ile-Ogbo-born politician as a committed team player who has contributed to the growth of the APC since joining its ranks.
The statement accused political opponents of deliberately distorting Ogunbiyi’s remarks to create division within the APC ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
According to the party, those circulating the video failed to present the full context, particularly aspects where Ogunbiyi reaffirmed his support for the APC and its governorship candidate.
“Why did they choose to circulate only a portion of the clip without showing where Ogunbiyi reiterated his commitment to the party’s efforts?” the statement queried.
The APC also alleged that Ogunbiyi had expressed support for its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, during the same meeting.
While urging party members and the public to ignore the video, the APC reiterated its confidence in Ogunbiyi’s loyalty and commitment.
“We do not have any reason to doubt the unconditional political commitment and unalloyed loyalty of Dr. Ogunbiyi,” the statement added.
The party concluded by advising the public to be cautious of misinformation, noting that statements taken out of context could be misleading.
The development comes amid heightened political activities and tensions in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
