The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party Nigeria has welcomed the publication of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the party’s candidate for the August 8, 2026 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing the move as a significant milestone in the state’s political landscape.
In a statement issued on Monday, the State Chairman of the party, Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, said the confirmation by INEC represents both a procedural step and a defining moment for the party.
He described Adeleke as “the most widely embraced governor in Nigeria,” adding that the party is proud to present him to the electorate as it prepares for the forthcoming election.
According to the party, INEC’s publication, in line with provisions of the Electoral Act and the official election timetable, marks the beginning of what it termed a decisive political journey toward the 2026 governorship poll.
The party also called on residents, stakeholders, and supporters across Osun State to remain united, vigilant, and committed to what it described as the collective will of the people.
Accord further urged its members to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the election, expressing confidence that the poll would consolidate ongoing development in the state.
It added that sustaining the current trajectory of governance under Adeleke should serve as motivation for voters to rally support for the party in the upcoming election.
The party maintained that August 8, 2026, represents a crucial date for the future of Osun State, calling on the electorate to stay focused amid expected political activities in the build-up to the poll.
