Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the command, Dungus Abdulkarim, said police officers responded to a distress call and found the victim unconscious and bleeding inside his residence.
“On February 6, our operatives received a distress call that a man was found lying in his room in a pool of blood. Officers immediately proceeded to the scene and took him to a clinic for urgent medical attention before he was referred to the Azare Medical Centre for further treatment,” Abdulkarim said.
According to the police, the suspect fled the scene after the incident but was later tracked and arrested on Monday.
“At the time the incident occurred, the wife was not found at the scene. However, following investigations, she was arrested early this morning. We are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police spokesperson added.
Abdulkarim said the victim had identified his wife as the person responsible for the attack but had yet to provide a detailed statement due to the severity of his injuries.
“We have not been able to obtain a full statement from the victim because of the pain and medical condition resulting from the injuries he sustained,” he said.
The police said investigations were ongoing and that further updates would be provided as the case progresses.
