On 3rd of May 2025, Women Impacting Nigeria (WIN) a female led organization held an event to encourage Nigeria women especially the youths to be consistent with their local struggles till it becomes a global win.
The event tagged “Hello WIN in Abuja” held in Abuja at the WIN’s Head Office in Asokoro saw witnessed the attendance of dynamic mix of women advocates, community leaders, emerging youths, tech professionals and creative voices .
It was an empowering event that brought together Nigeria women who shared intimate stories of their humble beginnings, core values, and journeys that led to global recognition. The event was a celebration of powerful conversations and inspiring insights that challenged conventional norms and encouraged forward-thinking dialogue.
In an engaging address, one of the feature speakers, Nnena Kwache, shared her compelling journey from humble beginnings to cutting-edge opportunities, challenging the status quo and urging women to break free from mediocrity through continuous learning and authentic self-presentation.
“I started with a degree in environmental engineering and a master’s in cognitive health,” she said.
Reflecting on her career evolution, Kwache noted how expanding her expertise beyond traditional roles led her into exploring blockchain consultancy—a field far more expansive than the common perceptions of cryptocurrency.
“If I had stuck only to what I knew about crypto, I would have missed countless opportunities,” she added.
Emphasizing that true empowerment comes from leveraging a wide range of experiences and embracing emerging trends, she urged, “As women, we must reject mediocrity. You rarely get into the room on your first try, but your impact matters. We have to keep pushing, keep learning, and always evolve.”
Equally compelling was Ruth Usoro’s session. A resilient software developer and NGO owner, Ruth recounted her unconventional journey with unguarded honesty.
“Courage is not being fearless—Courage is about moving with fear. Do it afraid,” she urged the audience, summarizing her philosophy that every opportunity, no matter how intimidating, should be seized.
Going further, Usoro highlighted the importance of intentional goal-setting in balancing multiple commitments. She shared,
“I had a vision board—a clear roadmap of what I wanted to achieve, ensuring I wouldn’t struggle with daily decisions or leave the NGOs I work with uncertain about my commitment.”
By structuring her objectives in advance, Ruth maintained focus, productivity, and efficiency allowing her to navigate opportunities seamlessly while making meaningful contributions to the organizations she engaged with.
