In anticipation of the imminent Faculty of Social Sciences Student (SOSSA) Election at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, scheduled for tomorrow, January 24th, 2024, students are gearing up to choose their leaders, with various individuals vying for different positions.

Ojo Cosmos, widely known as King Billz and a contender for the position of President, stressed the importance of demonstrating leadership skills and making sacrifices in governance during an interview with our reporter.

With unwavering optimism, he is determined to secure victory in the race, aspiring to assume the role of President.

In an exclusive interview, the 400-level sociology student articulated reasons why he is well-suited for the position.

Q. Tell us more about yourself.

I am Ojo Cosmos, politically known as King Billz, a 400-level student of Sociology, a passionate advocate for positive change, and a proud member of the Social Sciences community. I bring a combination of academic knowledge and practical insights that I believe will significantly contribute to the growth and development of our student union, where I have been tested and trusted.

Q. Why do you think you are fit for the position of SOSSA PRESIDENT?

While I acknowledge that everyone aspiring is qualified, my extensive involvement in various student activities, along with my leadership experience, uniquely qualifies me for the role of SOSSA President. Dedication to fostering unity, amplifying student voices, and implementing innovative solutions positions me to lead our community effectively.

Q. What are your motivations for the post?

My motivation stems from a deep commitment to enhancing the student experience at SOSSA. I am driven by the desire to create a positive and inclusive environment, where every student feels heard, supported, and empowered to thrive academically and personally.

Q.What do you plan to do differently when you emerge as the president?

I envision a presidency focused on proactive communication, transparent decision-making, and the implementation of initiatives directly addressing the needs and aspirations of SOSSAites. Plans include introducing innovative programs, enhancing student services, and establishing a collaborative platform for shared governance.

Q. What are the plans for the students and SOSSAites at large?

My plans include implementing robust support systems for academic excellence, fostering a vibrant campus culture through engaging events, and initiating projects addressing the holistic well-being of our students. I aim to create an environment nurturing personal growth, leadership development, and community involvement.

Q. From hearsay, we heard you are aspiring for the position because of money, what can you tell us about that?

I want to emphatically state that my motivation for seeking the position of SOSSA President is rooted in my commitment to service, not financial gain. I am dedicated to contributing my skills and efforts to the betterment of our student community. Any insinuation otherwise is baseless and does not align with the values I uphold.

Q. What can you tell the people of your faculty or convince them and not confuse them, beyond reasonable doubt that you are capable of such a position of leadership?

I believe I am well-suited for a leadership position due to my proven track records as the Liberian in my department of Sociology. I progressed to being elected as the first treasurer of the faculty SOSSA and was democratically elected as the ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY at the AAUASU level.

My strong communication skills and ability to advocate for students have been proven and demonstrated on numerous occasions.

I am dedicated to serving the people of SOSSA and ensuring SOSSA becomes great beyond imagination, and I am confident that my skills align with the responsibilities of this leadership position.
