A retired educationist based in Osun State, Madam Celinah Alaba Adedapo, has died at the age of 76.
She passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, according to a statement released by her family.
Madam Adedapo, who was born on March 29, 1949, in Ijesa-Isu, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, died 17 days to her 77th birthday.
In a statement released by her son, Olumuyiwa Adenrele Adedapo, the family described her as a devoted mother, grandmother and matriarch whose life was marked by service, faith and dedication to humanity.
“The Adedapo and Oluwole families announce with deep sorrow but with gratitude to God for a life well spent, the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and matriarch, Madam Celinah Alaba Adedapo (née Oluwole), who died on Thursday, March 12, 2026,” the statement read.
The family noted that the late educationist dedicated many years of her life to teaching and mentoring young people, contributing significantly to the development of education within her community and beyond.
Nearly six decades ago, she married Pa Albert Adeleke Adedapo, a retired civil servant and Head of the Eesa Compound in Aagba, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State. The union, the family said, was built on strong Christian values, love, discipline and service to humanity.
Madam Adedapo was also a committed Christian and an active member of the Methodist Cathedral Church, Isale-Aro, Osogbo, where she and her husband played prominent roles in church activities.
According to the statement, her dedication to faith and service earned her several professional and religious recognitions during her lifetime.
“She was known for her humility, kindness and generosity of spirit. Mama lived a life marked by love, peace and self-sacrifice, touching countless lives through her guidance, compassion and unwavering faith,” the family added.
Madam Adedapo is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, in-laws and other extended family members.
Among those she is survived by are a Lagos-based businessman, Olumuyiwa Adenrele Adedapo and his wife, Bolanle, a restaurateur; Olori Fadesayo Bamidele Adeniyi, a director in the Osun State Civil Service, and her husband, the Alagbeda of Agbeda-Ijesa, Oba Adesoji Chars Adeniyi; Engineer Oluwatosin Joseph Adedapo and his wife, Oluwaseun, a school proprietress; Abimbola Emmanuel Adedapo and his wife, Uvieroghene, a legal practitioner; and Olaide Ebenezer Adedapo and his wife, Victoria, both legal practitioners.
The family said details of the burial arrangements would be announced at a later date.
They also expressed appreciation for the prayers, love and support received during the period of mourning, urging friends and associates to remember the deceased for the values she upheld and the lives she impacted.
