The organisers of the Osun New Media Distinguished Awards (ONMDA) have announced plans to host the maiden edition of the awards in 2026, with the initiative aimed at recognising excellence, innovation and outstanding contributions within Osun State’s digital media ecosystem.
The organisers said the awards would honour individuals, organisations and brands that have distinguished themselves in advancing digital media through creativity, professionalism, advocacy, entrepreneurship and impactful online engagement.
According to the planning committee, ONMDA 2026 will feature multiple award categories covering content creators, digital influencers, online journalists, media professionals, creative personalities, social advocates, digital entrepreneurs, brands, organisations and emerging innovators who have made notable contributions through digital platforms.
Speaking on the initiative, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Comrade Akindele Rauf, said the awards were conceived to celebrate the growing influence of digital media while promoting excellence and professionalism in the sector.
“The Osun New Media Distinguished Awards were established to promote excellence, innovation and the responsible use of digital media while encouraging the next generation of digital leaders in Osun State,” he said.
Rauf noted that digital platforms had become powerful tools for communication, governance, education, business, entertainment and civic engagement, making it necessary to recognise those making meaningful contributions through technology and digital innovation.
“As digital platforms continue to reshape communication, governance, education, business, entertainment and civic engagement, ONMDA aims to become Osun State’s premier platform for celebrating individuals and organisations driving positive change in the digital space,” he added.
He disclosed that nominations for the maiden edition would be open to the public through an online nomination portal, which will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
According to him, members of the public would have the opportunity to nominate deserving individuals, brands and organisations whose contributions have positively impacted communities within Osun State and beyond.
Rauf described the initiative as more than an awards ceremony, saying it was designed to foster collaboration and inspire innovation among stakeholders in the state’s digital ecosystem.
“ONMDA is more than an awards ceremony. It is a movement to celebrate Osun’s growing digital revolution while fostering collaboration, innovation and professionalism among digital stakeholders,” he said.
He called on media practitioners, content creators, digital entrepreneurs, corporate organisations, educational institutions and members of the public to participate in the inaugural edition of the awards.
