As part of activities heralding the coronation of Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola Jokotola II (Ilufemiloye I), the newly installed 47th Olojudo of Ido-Osun, the town will host the Alayemore Coronation Artisans Football Competition, set to begin on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
The tournament will kick off at the Ido-Osun High School football field with a ceremonial kickoff by the monarch himself at 3:00 p.m. The opening match will feature the Bricklayer Association squaring off against the Carpenter Association, setting the stage for an exciting community-driven football fiesta.
Addressing journalists after the official draw held on May 1, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Odeyemi Muhydeen Oladele, described the tournament as one of the pre-coronation activities aimed at promoting unity, inclusiveness, and community spirit among local artisans and residents.
“The aim of this competition is to foster healthy coexistence among our people. Football remains a powerful tool for unity, and we are excited to integrate artisans into the coronation celebrations,” said Odeyemi.

Match Day 2, scheduled for Sunday, May 4, will feature two fixtures:

The tournament will climax on Thursday, May 22, with the final match and trophy presentation, just hours before the official coronation ceremony begins.
Anticipated Dignitaries
The grand coronation event, set for Saturday, May 24, 2025, is expected to attract top dignitaries, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, Hon. Bamidele Salam (Member, Ede Federal Constituency), Retired Colonel Theophilus O. Bamigboye, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly Adewale Egbedun, and several others from political, traditional, and religious institutions.
The Alayemore Coronation Artisans Football Competition symbolizes more than sports—it is a celebration of Ido-Osun’s heritage, pride, and community resilience.
