Their appointments were announced on Friday during the inauguration of the Pelumi Olajengbesi House of Representatives Campaign Council at Ijebu-Jesa Town Hall, an event attended by political stakeholders, traditional rulers and grassroots mobilisers from across the constituency.
The Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesa, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, who inaugurated the council, expressed confidence in Olajengbesi’s ambition, declaring that the ancestors of Ijesa North would support his quest to represent Oriade/Obokun in the House of Representatives.
The monarch said the ancestors had a role to play in the candidate’s aspiration and expressed confidence that any obstacles to his ambition would be overcome through their intervention.
The inauguration was also attended by the Olomo of Omo-Ijesa and the Oniwoye of Iwoye-Ijesa, alongside community representatives, professionals, women, youths and students.
The campaign council will be chaired by Hon. Mayowa Adejorin, with Hon. Bayo Ogungbangbe as deputy chairman and Prince Adesoji Baderin as director-general.
Hon. Ladesuyi Tope and Hon. Sola Adeyekun were appointed deputy directors-general for Obokun and Oriade, respectively. Hon. Omotoso Eniola will serve as secretary, Hon. Ademola Asaju as assistant secretary, while Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo was named spokesperson.
The council has established 20 committees to oversee campaign activities, including political strategy, grassroots mobilisation, ward coordination, media and publicity, digital communication, research and policy, legal compliance, election monitoring, finance, logistics and security.
Other committees will coordinate engagement with elders, women, youths, students, religious organisations, professionals, business communities, party stakeholders, support groups and diaspora networks.
The committees are expected to drive grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, campaign communication and election preparations across Oriade and Obokun local government areas.
