YPF Hails Tinubu, Security Forces Over Rescue of 20 Corps Members

The Yoruba Progressives Forum, a Yoruba sociocultural organisation, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies and the Imo State Government for the successful rescue of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps members abducted in Imo State.

The group also commended the security agencies for rescuing another person abducted alongside the prospective corps members, describing the development as a relief to the victims’ families and loved ones.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji AbdulLateef Olalekan, popularly known as Asiri Ede, the YPF praised the security personnel involved in the operation for their coordination, dedication and commitment to securing the safe release of the victims.

The organisation said the successful operation underscored the importance of effective collaboration among security agencies and different levels of government in tackling kidnapping and other forms of criminality across the country.

“We, members of Yoruba Progressives Forum, commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the security agencies and the Imo State Government for the successful rescue of the abducted prospective corps members.

“We appreciate the dedication and courage of the security personnel involved in the operation and the efforts made to ensure that the victims returned safely to their families,” the statement read.

The group also expressed solidarity with the families of the abducted victims, acknowledging the emotional distress and uncertainty they endured during the period of the abduction.

While welcoming the rescue, YPF urged the authorities to sustain the momentum by strengthening intelligence gathering, surveillance and coordinated security operations to prevent similar incidents.

It also called for the prosecution of those responsible for kidnapping and other criminal activities, stressing the need for sustained efforts to address insecurity across the country.

The organisation said the development demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity, noting that the administration of President Tinubu had continued to prioritise the protection of lives and property.

“President Tinubu is not taking the issue of security with levity. We believe that with sustained commitment, improved intelligence and stronger cooperation among the security agencies, the activities of bandits, kidnappers and other criminal groups can be effectively curtailed,” YPF said.

The group further urged Nigerians to support efforts to improve national security by remaining vigilant and providing credible information to security agencies that could assist in preventing crimes and protecting lives and property.

YPF congratulated the rescued prospective corps members and their families, while urging the relevant authorities to ensure that the victims receive appropriate medical and psychological support to aid their recovery from the ordeal.
