The Osun State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has declared its full support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2026 election, unveiling what it described as “Operation Win Your Polling Unit” ahead of the poll.
The declaration was made on Thursday when the leadership and members of the union paid a congratulatory visit to Oyebamiji following his emergence as the APC candidate.
Speaking during the visit, the Acting Chairman of the Osun NURTW, Comrade Kazeem Oyewale, said the union had resolved to mobilise its members across the state to work vigorously for Oyebamiji’s victory at the polls.
Oyewale said members of the union had been experiencing hardship under the current administration, alleging what he described as an “anti-NURTW policy” that had negatively affected the union’s operations and welfare.
He expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s capacity to transform the state, citing his track record in public service and the private sector, and assured that the union would deliver massive votes for the APC candidate.
“We are here to congratulate you on your emergence and to assure you of our unflinching support. We have mobilised and sensitised our members across the state to vote massively for you in the forthcoming governorship election,” Oyewale said.
He added that members of the union had been charged to return to their respective areas and ensure that the APC wins their polling units in the election.
Responding, Oyebamiji thanked the union for the show of support and reaffirmed his commitment to run an inclusive, people-oriented government if elected.
He said his administration would prioritise public welfare and ensure that every citizen feels the impact of governance.
“My government will be a government of the people, by the people and for the people. The welfare and well-being of citizens will remain at the front burner, and no group will be neglected,” Oyebamiji said.
He acknowledged the role of the NURTW in the socio-economic development of society and urged members to remain steadfast, focused and peaceful in their mobilisation efforts ahead of the election.
Earlier, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, urged members of the union to remain united and resolute before, during and after the election to ensure the emergence of what he described as purposeful and progressive leadership.
Adeleke also criticised the treatment of NURTW members under the current administration and assured them of improved engagement and support under an Oyebamiji-led government.
