OSSIEC Set Up Verification Committee for 2025 Osun LG Polls

The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has taken a significant step towards ensuring a transparent electoral process by forming a Verification Committee ahead of the February 2025 local government elections.

The newly formed committee is tasked with scrutinizing the credentials of candidates who emerged from their party primaries, ensuring all aspirants meet the necessary requirements.

OSSIEC Chairman, Barr. Ashim Abioye, emphasized the commission’s dedication to upholding a fair and credible election process. He noted that the committee, comprising respected professionals with vast experience in various sectors, will verify the age, academic qualifications, and tax compliance of the candidates. “We believe that the committee’s work will bolster public confidence in the election process,” Barr. Abioye stated during the inauguration.

OSSIEC CHAIRMAN

Alhaji Abdullateef Olayanju, the committee’s Chairman, expressed gratitude to Governor Ademola Adeleke and Barr. Abioye for the trust placed in him and his team. He pledged the committee’s commitment to fairness and transparency, calling for the cooperation of all involved parties.

This move by OSSIEC is expected to enhance the integrity of the 2025 local government elections, ensuring that only qualified candidates are on the ballot.
