The committee organising the 70th birthday celebration of the former Osun State Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, has announced a series of events to mark the milestone.

The celebrations, set to take place next Sunday, September 29th, 2024, will include a medical outreach benefiting over 4,000 people, as well as the distribution of raw food items to the less privileged.

During a press conference held at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office in Osogbo, the Chairman of the Committee and former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye, revealed that the celebrations would be marked in a low-key manner, in line with Oyetola’s preference for moderation in all his endeavors.

Hon. Owoeye announced that the four-day medical outreach would commence on Tuesday, September 24th, at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office in Osogbo from 9:00 am.

The outreach program will then proceed to the Geriatric Centre in Ilesa on Wednesday, September 25th, at the same time.

On Thursday, September 26th, the medical outreach will move to the Oluwo’s Palace Square in Iwo, with activities starting from 9:00 am.

The final leg of the outreach will take place at the Aragbiji Palace Square in Iragbiji on Friday, September 27th, before concluding with surgical procedures on Saturday, September 28th, at the Geriatric Centre, Ilesa.

In addition to the medical outreach, Hon. Owoeye stated that raw food items would be distributed to less privileged individuals at selected mosques, churches, and other accredited centers across Osun State on Friday, September 27th, and Sunday, September 28th.

The grand finale of the birthday celebration will be held at Oyetola’s residence in Iragbiji, featuring a lecture and prayer session.

Highlighting the significance of the celebrations, Hon. Owoeye praised Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola’s contributions to Osun State and beyond, noting that Oyetola had proven himself as a seasoned professional and political figure with a lasting impact.

The committee emphasized Oyetola’s impressive career, which includes his work as an entrepreneur, a boardroom expert in the field of insurance and actuarial science, and his service in various capacities, including his roles as Chief of Staff, Governor of Osun State, and his current position as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

“We decided to roll out the drums and celebrate our iconic leader, a financial engineer, and a tested manager of men and resources,” Hon. Owoeye remarked.

He described Oyetola as a figure whose life exemplifies discipline, success, and dedication to public service, adding that the former governor’s contributions have significantly shaped the growth and transformation of Osun State.

The committee reiterated its intention to conduct the celebrations with a sense of moderation, in keeping with Oyetola’s values, and assured that the activities would be impactful for both the celebrant and the people of Osun State.
