The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to prioritise workers’ welfare, infrastructure development and improved electricity supply if elected governor in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Speaking at the party’s governorship campaign flag-off held at Enuwa Square, Ile-Ife, on Thursday, Oyebamiji said his administration would focus on revitalising critical sectors of the state’s economy through purposeful leadership and people-centred governance.
He identified infrastructure, security, education, agriculture, healthcare, commerce and industry, power and energy, water resources, youth development, sports, women and children’s welfare, empowerment and public engagement as priority areas.
According to him, the APC has already identified sectors requiring urgent intervention and is prepared to begin addressing them immediately upon assuming office.
“We have identified decadence in critical sectors, and we are prepared to fix them as soon as we take over the mantle of leadership of the state,” he said.
The governorship candidate also promised to rehabilitate major intra-city roads in Ile-Ife and other parts of the state, including the Enuwa–Fajuyi Junction, Aderemi–Ondo Road and Enuwa–Sabo routes, while pledging to improve public schools and healthcare facilities.
On workers’ welfare, Oyebamiji assured civil servants that their well-being would receive priority attention under his administration.
“The welfare and general well-being of our people, particularly Osun workers, will be prioritised. We are irrevocably committed to delivering on our promises and running a government of the people, by the people and for the people,” he said.
He also disclosed that discussions were at an advanced stage with a German firm to improve electricity supply across the state, saying the proposed partnership would generate about 3.5 megawatts of electricity to support economic growth and improve residents’ quality of life.
“We are working assiduously to maximise the opportunity we have to generate reasonable and sufficient electricity supply for our people, and this will be executed as soon as I am elected governor,” Oyebamiji added.
Meanwhile, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, called on political parties and their supporters to conduct peaceful campaigns and reject all forms of violence ahead of the governorship election.
The monarch said no political ambition was worth the loss of lives, urging residents to preserve Osun’s peaceful reputation before, during and after the election.
“There should be no bloodshed in Osun. Elections will come and go, but the state will remain. I plead with everyone to vote peacefully and reject violence because Osun is greater than any individual,” the Ooni said.
