OSPOLY Management Debunks Misleading Comedy Skit

The Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has moved swiftly to quell misconceptions surrounding a trending comedy skit circulating online, asserting that the characters portrayed are not affiliated with the institution.

In an official statement released by the Registrar, Mr. Abiodun Oloyede, he emphatically stated, “the comedy did not emanate from the polytechnic.”

Oloyede further clarified the institution’s stance, shedding light on the broader issue of educational integrity within Nigeria.

“The comedy depicted the rot in the Nigerian Secondary Education System,” Oloyede remarked, “where students are not well groomed in their secondary school levels and indeed acquired their secondary school certificates in the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) through dubious means.

And even made their ways through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to secure admission into the tertiary institutions in the same manner.”

Highlighting the quality of education provided by Osun State Polytechnic, Oloyede asserted that students who undergo training within the institution would not exhibit the characteristics portrayed in the comedy skit.

He underscored the achievements of the institution’s graduates, noting their success in various sectors both nationally and internationally.

“While we acknowledge the comedic nature of the skit, it is imperative for the public to understand that the characters depicted are not representative of our student body,” Oloyede emphasized.

The genesis of the controversy stemmed from a video purportedly capturing interviews with freshers on their matriculation day, wherein they struggled to articulate basic concepts related to their disciplines and failed to provide the meaning of “ND.”

Despite the video’s viral spread, the institution remains resolute in dispelling any association between the comedic content and its student populace.

The management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, urges the public to disregard the skit’s portrayal as reflective of the institution’s standards, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and student development.
