OOPA Elects New Executive, Tosin Lawrence Emerges Chairman

The Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) has elected Comrade Abioye Tosin Lawrence of Oriontime News as its new Chairman following the successful conduct of the Association’s general election.

Lawrence secured 57.9 per cent of the total votes cast to defeat Mr. Bright Olorungbotemi of Voice Air Media and Mr. Hammed Tajudeen of Blaze News Nigeria in a keenly contested race.

Other elected executives include Mr. Idowu Abass of Idealgist as Vice Chairman, Mr. Adekale Babatunde of Spyloaded as General Secretary, and Mr. Fatai Akanji of Adulawo as Financial Secretary.

The election, conducted by the Association’s Electoral Committee, produced a new executive team that will steer the affairs of OOPA for the next two years.

According to the committee, the exercise commenced at 8:00 a.m. with accreditation of eligible members, followed by balloting in compliance with established electoral guidelines.

In a statement released by the committee, the process was described as peaceful, orderly, and reflective of the Association’s commitment to democratic principles and institutional integrity. The committee also noted that a maiden manifesto session was introduced ahead of the election to deepen engagement and promote accountability among contestants.

The Electoral Committee appreciated members for their cooperation and active participation, stating that the outcome represents the collective will of the electorate.

The newly elected executives are expected to be formally sworn in at the forthcoming Congress scheduled for March, where the outgoing administration led by Mr. Mukhtar Ajelogbon will hand over leadership to the new team.
