“My Brother Built People, Not Just Policies” – Adeleke Commissions Leadership Centre for Late Brother

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday commissioned the Isiaka Adeleke Leadership Resource Centre at Adeleke University, Ede.

The centre, donated by Hon. Bamidele Salam, is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, the first executive governor of Osun State.

The commissioning, held on April 23, drew dignitaries from across the state, including traditional rulers, government officials, and members of the Adeleke family.

Speaking at the event, Governor Adeleke described his late brother as a political icon whose values of inclusiveness, equality, and public-spiritedness continue to shape leadership in Osun State.

“Senator Isiaka Adeleke upheld equality in both private and public life. He was a leveler who detested discrimination, treating artisans and elites alike,” the governor said. “His governance was driven by the people’s needs. He listened, included everyone, and governed with compassion and fairness.”

The governor praised Hon. Salam for his thoughtful donation, calling the leadership centre a “legacy project for future generations.”

“The centre will serve as a platform to train emerging leaders in the values of open governance, compassion, and selfless service,” he said. “It is a well-deserved tribute to a man who gave so much to his people.”

Hon. Bamidele Salam, who represents Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, said the resource centre was born out of a desire to immortalize the values of the late Adeleke.

“No number of monuments can fully capture the impact Senator Adeleke made. This leadership centre is just a token to honour a man whose compassion and patience set him apart as a true leader,” he said.

He emphasized that at the heart of good leadership lies compassion, adding that Senator Adeleke’s example should be studied and emulated by current and future leaders.

The Isiaka Adeleke Leadership Resource Centre is located on the main campus of Adeleke University. It comprises a lecture theatre, gallery, and spaces designed for training and leadership development. A broader expansion plan is also underway to make the centre a hub for leadership training in the state.

Other dignitaries present included the Pro-Chancellor of Adeleke University, Dr. Deji Adeleke (represented by Chief Mrs. Modupeola Adeleke-Sanni); the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal; Chairman of Osun Local Government Service Commission, Tunji Adeleke; and several members of the Osun State Executive Council.
