Focus on Bills, Projects, Not Petitions, Oriade Group Tells Lawmaker Kanmi Ajibola

In a sharp critique of Hon. Kanmi Ajibola’s approach to governance, Oriade Concerned Citizens, a socio-political group, has called on the lawmaker to refocus his efforts on improving the lives of his constituents instead of filing petitions against them. This came in response to Ajibola’s recent legal action against constituents who demanded better representation.

In a press statement, the group’s Public Relations Officer, Ezekiel Aderomola, expressed disappointment over Ajibola’s decision to petition constituents instead of addressing their concerns. “We are extremely disappointed that our lawmaker, instead of fighting for us, has chosen to suppress those calling for better representation,” Ezekiel stated.

The group emphasized that Ajibola’s role as a lawmaker should involve the facilitation of projects, sponsoring bills, and working on motions that can bring positive change to the Oriade constituency. According to Ezekiel, the lawmaker has failed to deliver on expectations, pointing to the lack of visible improvements in the community since Ajibola took office.

“Some lawmakers have constructed boreholes, renovated schools, and facilitated employment opportunities for their people, but Oriade remains left out,” Ezekiel lamented.

The group further condemned Ajibola’s use of police to intimidate constituents, urging the lawmaker to focus on his legislative duties instead of stifling public dissent. “At a time when other constituencies are celebrating the achievements of their representatives, our lawmaker is busy filing petitions. It’s unfortunate,” Ezekiel added.

They called on Ajibola to adopt a more proactive approach, reminding him that his constituents expect responsible leadership and action, not legal battles.
