Governor Ademola Adeleke has commended the recent Court of Appeal judgment affirming the legitimacy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government chairmen and councillors in Osun State, describing it as a legal reaffirmation of the truth and a victory for due process.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the ruling puts to rest all claims surrounding the controversial “Yes/No” elections that brought in the now-sacked All Progressives Congress (APC) council officials in 2022.
“Unlike the opposition, we are people of due process. The latest judgment is being served on all relevant stakeholders at the state and national levels. Our expectation is a quick restoration of normalcy in line with the law,” Adeleke stated.
He congratulated Osun people for their patience and resilience throughout the legal tussle, noting that the judgment validates the lawfully elected PDP chairmen and councillors.
“I appreciate the deep love for peace and unity as demonstrated by the PDP chairmen and councillors of the 30 local governments and area councils since their swearing-in. Your patience and support for the law has paid off,” the governor said.
The statement also acknowledged the professionalism of security agencies for standing firm on the side of law and ensuring peace across the state.
“Evil plots against our dear state on all fronts have been foiled,” Adeleke was quoted as saying. “We must continue to remain peaceful and never allow agents of violence and enemies of the people to drag the state into chaos or backwardness.”
The governor assured that his administration remains committed to legal and constitutional means in addressing governance matters, particularly at the grassroots level.
