The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party over their reaction to the donation of operational vehicles to the police by local government council executives in the state.
The position of the party was contained in a press statement dated April 2, 2026, signed by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi.
Olabisi said the support provided to the police by the reinstated local government chairmen was aimed at assisting security agencies in combating crime and protecting lives and property across the state.
He described the criticism of the initiative as unnecessary, noting that security should remain a priority for all levels of government.
Olabisi added that the donation of operational vehicles was meant to strengthen police operations and improve their response to criminal activities across the state.
According to him, “The issue of security of the lives and property of the people towers above any other statutory responsibilities of all the levels of government at all times.
“The criticism of the Accord Party against the statutory efforts of the legally reinstated local government council chairmen to render support to the police in the fight against crimes is uncalled for, frivolous and ill-motivated.
“We observe that the main problem of the Accord Party is not the policy of the legally reinstated local government council chairmen to help the police in fighting crimes across the state but the fact that the actions of the council executives have exposed the Adeleke-led government as lacking in its priority of its constitutional roles to the people of the state.
“If the Accord Party, Adeleke and his political associates cannot see the good intention in the local government council chairmen in helping the police to fight crimes, it means they need help which however is belated.
“It is an anomaly for any level of government to subject the issue of security to needless politicisation as it is being currently witnessed under the administration of Governor Adeleke.”
