The Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) has commenced activities marking its 2025 Digital Media Week with an inspection tour of key locations in Osogbo as part of its Community Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Led by its Chairman, Mukhtar Ajelogbon, the association on Wednesday, December 3, visited the Old-Garage/Oke-Fia–Lameco Road, Oke-Fia Flyover, and the Lameco Flyover, including adjoining corridors, to assess completed projects, ongoing works and areas requiring government intervention.
Speaking during the inspection, Ajelogbon said OOPA chose to begin the Digital Media Week with an on-the-site assessment to obtain first-hand information on the condition of infrastructure across the capital.
“This visit is part of our social responsibilities to observe what government has done and to identify areas still lacking in infrastructure,” he said.
“It is not political. It is simply a factual assessment of the current state of infrastructure in Osogbo.”
The association observed that Osogbo has experienced notable infrastructural improvements over the past eight years, especially in road expansion and major junction upgrades, but stressed that some areas still require sustained attention.
While presenting their findings, the association commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for ongoing infrastructural efforts but urged the government to intensify work on unfinished projects, particularly the Lameco Flyover, which they noted would improve mobility and add to the administration’s achievements upon completion.
Ajelogbon emphasized that the assessment was neutral, evidence-based and intended to give a balanced picture of both progress and outstanding needs.
“The governor has made noticeable progress, and that is acknowledged. At the same time, there are other roads that need attention. Our duty is to report both sides objectively,” he said.
He also appealed to residents to support sustainable development by maintaining public infrastructure and encouraging government to do more.
Earlier, the Digital Media Week planning committee, led by Adesoji Omosebi, held a press conference where Ajelogbon officially declared the 2025 Digital Media Week open, announcing several activities lined up for the week.
The inspection tour marked the first activity of the programme, with additional engagements and events expected to continue over the next few days.
