The Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JONAPWD) has urged the Osun State Government to swiftly implement the provisions of the Disability Act, particularly in the ongoing teachers’ recruitment exercise.

In a statement signed by the Association’s chairman, Stephen Oluwafemi, JONAPWD emphasized the importance of fair representation and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in the recruitment process.

“The implementation of this act will not only improve the lives of persons with disabilities but also contribute to the socio-economic development of Osun State,” said Oluwafemi.

The association appealed to the government to ensure inclusive recruitment processes across all state agencies, provide necessary accommodations and support services for persons with disabilities, and allocate adequate resources for the act’s implementation.

While commending the government for signing the Disability Bill into law, Oluwafemi stressed the need for prompt action to foster a more inclusive society.
