The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has assured corps members that they will soon start receiving a monthly allowance of N77,000 as part of the new minimum wage structure.
Speaking in Abuja during the commissioning of a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance Company, Ahmed stated that arrangements for the increased allowance have been finalized.
The statement said, “Corps members across Nigeria will soon begin receiving a new monthly allowance of N77,000.”
He emphasized that the welfare and security of corps members remain his top priority, assuring them that by 2025, they would receive all the benefits they deserve.
Ahmed also highlighted the importance of the donated bus, noting that it would help ease transportation challenges faced by NYSC staff.
He acknowledged that staff and corps members often face difficulties commuting due to rising transportation costs.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Express Insurance Company, Mr. Matthew Ogwezhi, explained that the donation aligns with the company’s ongoing partnership with the NYSC.
He added that the gesture was aimed at alleviating transportation costs for staff, especially given the high fuel prices in Abuja.
Ogwezhi stressed the importance of organizations giving back to society, noting that a company’s legacy is measured by the positive impact it creates within its community.
