Amid growing calls for greater youth participation in governance, two student organizations in Nigeria have urged the Federal Government to expand its commitment to youth inclusion and welfare.
The associations made the call during a strategic engagement with the Minister of Youth Development in Abuja, where discussions centered on strengthening institutional partnerships, advancing leadership training, and creating economic opportunities for young people across the country.
Speaking during the meeting, the Minister commended the delegation for its proactive approach to national dialogue, emphasizing that credible student bodies remain vital partners in driving the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The voices of students must be respected in policy implementation. As a ministry, we remain committed to creating developmental pathways and opportunities for young people across Nigeria,” the Minister stated.
“We welcome structured partnerships with accountable youth-led organizations.”
The student leaders, who represent two of Nigeria’s most active youth and student development organizations, described the visit as a “new dawn” for government–student collaboration.
“Our engagement with the Ministry of Youth Development reflects our commitment to building bridges—not barriers—in the national development process,” said one of the delegation leaders, Ambassador Victor Adetolaju.He noted that the coalition has, over the years, implemented projects focused on student welfare, entrepreneurship, leadership training, and academic support across campuses nationwide.
In her remarks, a representative of the female student leadership group said the partnership would open new pathways for young women in education and governance.
“The future is female, and this collaboration will ensure young women are better equipped to contribute meaningfully to nation-building,” she said.
