The Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) has expressed profound condolences to the people of Ilobu, Osun State, and the Nigerian Army on the passing of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja.

In a statement issued by the association’s Chairman, Mukhtar Ajelogbon, and conveyed through its Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idowu, in Osogbo on Wednesday, OOPA described the untimely loss of General Lagbaja as deeply shocking and a significant loss to both the Nigerian Army and the entire nation.

“It is with great sorrow that the Osun Online Publishers Association learned of Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja’s sudden passing. His death is a painful blow to his family, the people of Ilobu, the Nigerian Army, and the nation as a whole. We stand with the grieving families, the Ilobu Development Union (IDU), and the people of Osun State,” Ajelogbon said.

He went on to praise General Lagbaja’s remarkable leadership and dedication, which left an indelible impact on the Nigerian Army. Ajelogbon noted that Osun State had greatly felt his contributions, especially during his time as Chief of Army Staff.

“We acknowledge General Lagbaja’s invaluable efforts in fortifying national security and facilitating development projects across Osun, the Southwest, and other regions. His vision and strategic insight will be sorely missed by all who served alongside him,” he added.

The statement extended the association’s deepest sympathies to the people of Ilobu, the hometown of OOPA’s immediate past Chairman, Jare Tiamiyu, who are mourning the loss of one of their most distinguished sons.

Ajelogbon also affirmed OOPA’s unwavering support for the Nigerian Army, pledging solidarity with General Lagbaja’s family and calling for prayers for his soul, as well as comfort and strength for his loved ones during this difficult time.
