Comrade Omole Oluwasegun Omo-Osodi, the founder and president of the Atunluse Asoludero Movement, has condemned a group identified as Concerned Citizens of Osun, describing it as “faceless” and “politically sponsored” in its criticism of Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi over his comments on the recent killings in the state.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Omole himself, he accused the Osun State Government of hiding under the guise of public advocacy to “exploit discontented citizens for political gains.”
According to him, the so-called Concerned Citizens of Osun lacked credibility and had no moral ground to defend the alleged atrocities of the Osun Amotekun Corps.
“My attention has been drawn to a faceless and sponsored group that launched baseless attacks against Senator Francis Fadahunsi under the guise of ‘Fadahunsi’s Reckless Comment on Amotekun: A Shameful Abuse of Power and Arrogant Overreach,’” Omole said.
“On any reasonable day, I would not respond to such faceless entities, but knowing that my constituents are reasonable and knowledgeable, I feel compelled to speak against this politics of bitterness.”
Omole alleged that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke had “brought shame and blatant abuse of power to Osun State,” claiming that Senator Fadahunsi’s peaceful disposition had been “exploited by illiterates meddling with Osun State affairs.”
He maintained that the senator, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, “would not allow thugs to endanger the lives of his constituents,” while describing the state’s Amotekun Corps as “a hideout for criminals and thugs.”
“It is laughable and deeply disturbing that any reasonable group would defend the current Amotekun for killing and terrorizing innocent Osun citizens since its inception under its current leadership,” Omole said.
He further questioned the silence of the group during previous violent incidents allegedly linked to the state’s security outfit.
“Where was this so-called Concerned Citizens group in February when innocent Osun people were killed over the illegal local government elections? They were silent when over eleven law-abiding citizens in Ido-Ayegunle were also murdered,” he queried.
“In Ilesa, four persons were killed, while one was shot dead in Ikire. Over 25 others sustained gunshot wounds. The Esa-Oke Obaship crisis also claimed four lives, including an elderly man whose head was severed and taken away, yet the government has failed to bring the culprits to justice.”
Omole also cited a recent attack in Akinlalu, Ife North Local Government, where he claimed Amotekun operatives killed four residents and injured eight others.
He therefore called on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to order the immediate arrest of the State Commander of Amotekun, whom he accused of “terrorizing market women, communities, and opposition figures.”
“We call on the Inspector General of Police to transfer the commander to Abuja to face murder charges, as he still has an outstanding case,” Omole said.
He described Senator Fadahunsi as “the true voice of the masses who cannot be silenced by the state government.”
“Both the PDP and Governor Adeleke must stop dragging Osun into unnecessary tension and political theatrics,” he added.
Reacting to Concerned Citizens of Osun’s claim that “the people of Osun stand firmly behind Amotekun, a symbol of homegrown security and community trust,” Omole dismissed their statement as propaganda.
“Who else but their paymasters and co-conspirators stand behind murderers?” he replied.
The group had also accused Senator Fadahunsi of being a “pretender who destroys institutions for self-glorification,” urging him to “choose which side of history he wishes to stand on.”
Responding, Omole described the senator as “an institution himself,” saying:
“Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, OFR, is an institution in his own right — a man whose voice commands respect in Osun and across Nigeria’s political space.”
