Osun 2026: APC Strategizes to Reclaim State Amid Adeleke Defection Rumours

Key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have mapped out strategies to regain control of the state in the 2026 and 2027 elections, amid revelations that internal party moves blocked Governor Ademola Adeleke from defecting to the APC.

At a recent stakeholders’ meeting held at Ilerioluwa House, convened by Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, party leaders reviewed electoral strategies, Adeleke’s speculated defection, and the ongoing controversy over withheld local government funds.

Sources at the meeting disclosed that a senior APC figure claimed responsibility for preventing Adeleke’s defection, assuring members that the party can reclaim Osun without the governor’s influence. The leader allegedly revealed that the APC has secured cooperation from electoral and security agencies to ensure victory in the upcoming polls.

The meeting also discussed the Federal Government’s continued withholding of Osun’s local government allocations, despite court rulings in favor of the PDP-led state government. Party leaders indicated that efforts are underway to channel the funds to APC-aligned local council officials, whose election was nullified by the courts.

The APC reportedly believes the unresolved allocation crisis could sway grassroots support against Adeleke, bolstering the party’s chances in the next election.

Recalling the party’s 2022 loss, attendees attributed it to a lack of federal backing, expressing confidence that the situation would be different in 2026 with renewed party leadership and strategic alignment at the federal level.
