OndoDecides: Party Agents Spotted Distributing Cash at Polling Units

Party agents from two major political parties were seen with cash at the Anglican Primary School polling unit in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.

A female agent was observed displaying cash to voters, urging them to quickly check their names on the register. According to a Punch correspondent present at the scene, the agent’s actions appeared to be part of a vote-buying scheme, using the cash as an incentive to sway voters.

Another party agent arrived with a Ghana-must-go bag filled with cash, transported in a minivan. She was seen preparing a list, while other agents approached her to discuss.

A resident confirmed to the publication that the woman with the minivan is a well-known agent for one of the political parties (name withheld) in the area.

When asked why she decided to vote despite being heavily pregnant, another resident replied, “dibo ko sebe”—a Yoruba phrase meaning “vote and cook a pot of soup,” implying she intended to collect money from the party agents.
