Former APC National Secretary and ex-Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election, vowing that the party will not just participate but win.
Omisore, who began grassroots consultations across the state, said his decision would be shaped by engagements with stakeholders and party members.
“This is not about ambition alone; it is about collective reasoning and strategy. Osun needs common sense now more than ever. We cannot afford a candidate who merely participates — we must present one who can win,” he said in a statement by his media office.
Former Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin Bamisayemi, praised Omisore’s role in stabilising the APC as National Secretary and in securing the emergence of President Bola Tinubu as the party’s 2023 flagbearer.
Similarly, APC leaders in Ilesa East described Omisore’s bid as a unity project, adding that his consultation tour, including a courtesy visit to Chief Akinwande Ayinde Akinola, the Sawe of Ilesa, signals “the beginning of a rescue mission for Osun State.”
