Lagos, Osun Lead as 1.3m Nigerians Register for PVCs Online

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 1,379,342 Nigerians completed online pre-registration in the first week of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, held between August 18 and 24, 2025.

According to INEC’s State Pre-Registration Report, Osun recorded the highest share with 393,269 entries (28.5%), followed by Lagos with 222,205 (16.1%) and Ogun with 132,823 (9.6%).

Other top-performing states included the FCT (107,682), Oyo (66,951), Kaduna (61,592), and Kogi (58,546). Kebbi and Yobe also recorded over 34,000 registrations each.

By contrast, the South-East posted the lowest numbers. Ebonyi had only 261 entries , the lowest nationwide, while Enugu (484), Imo (481), Abia (772), and Cross River (4,055) also recorded poor turnout.

INEC said the physical phase of the CVR began on Monday across 811 centres nationwide, including all local government offices. The exercise will run Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for new applicants, transfers, and replacements of lost or damaged cards.

The commission also assured that provisions have been made for persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups.
